Morella Sassoon for Wolf and Badger A/W 2013
Morella Sassoon is one of the key new designers to stock with Wolf and Badger. The collection includes three dresses: the Isabel Dress, Lina Dress and the Perri Dress.
The designer creates dramatic structured gowns and cocktail dresses, produced at the highest quality. Morella Sassoon uses rich fabrics such as organza, sheer tulle, silk satin and chiffon to create these exquisite pieces.
We interviewed Daniella, the key designer from Morella Sassoon, to find out more about the collection and here’s what she had to say:
How would you describe the woman who wears Morella Sassoon?
Our label is aimed at women who wish to sparkle with luxury. Many of our pieces focus on clean and classic silhouettes using the elegance of Chantilly laces, sheer soft tulle sleeves, delicate beading and opulent ornamentation. Our clients have a strong desire to feel luxuriously beautiful, special and individual, as they are one-of-a-kind. We create timeless pieces, which are always wearable yet original.
Why did you choose to stock with Wolf and Badger and how did you decide which dresses to showcase?
Wolf and Badger is a great place to showcase for new designers. They support designers by helping introduce the brand to customers as well as push with PR and social media. We have gained lots of experience and feedback relayed to us through their staff, which has been vital for our success through each collection. The customers at Wolf and Badger tend to lean towards a more trendy, young and charismatic appeal, and therefore we chose designs from the collection which show the more fun and fluid side of Morella Sassoon. The Perri Dress has been a popular choice due to its unique sheer crystallised sleeve.
Intricate embroidery is key within a Morella Sassoon dress. What was your inspiration during the designing stage?
The latest collection would be summed up as eastern opulence meets pared-down western glamour. Drawing inspiration from Far Eastern architecture, the rich fabrics include organza, sheer tulle, silk satin and chiffon, all in a rich jewel-toned colour palette ranging from ruby red and gold to emerald green and sapphire blue. Clean-lined and classic silhouettes are lent eastern flair with intricate gold embroidery and opulent beadwork, which nods to the ornate tiered roofs of a traditional Buddhist temple. Although much of my inspiration stems from eastern embroidery and embellishments, the shaping is always formed from old school Hollywood glamour. The elegance of the brand is inspired by the classic long-standing influences of the likes of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly.
