Christine Collections launches in Liverpool
The 16th November 2013 was the date of the official launch of the Christine Collections store in Liverpool. The event was true to the glamorous costumes inspired by the 1940s and 50s Hollywood stars. There was a fabulous catwalk show, Marilyn Monroe lookalike models and even a delicious chandelier shaped cake.
The designer, Christine Edson, grew up in New York where she was a regular visitor at Broadway shows from a very young age. She was instantly drawn to the fabulous costumes and glamorous outfits on stage. Christine worked her way up to being a professional costume designer for shows like Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King, and shortly after became principal designer for a show called Ghost of Marilyn, which is when she got captured by the style of the blonde bombshell.
Since then, Christine has become the go-to designer for Marilyn Monroe inspired costumes. She has worked with the world famous Marilyn lookalike, Suzie Kennedy, and is currently helping women become more glamorous with her own collection of dresses available at the Christine Collections online store.
The designer’s other inspirations include Jane Russell, Audrey Hepburn, Liz Taylor and other Hollywood actresses from the 1940-50s.
“I like that era because fashion achieved the most ultimate expression of femininity and the designers today cannot go further than it. It was the apex of fashion’s art form in my opinion.”
