Rita Ora to star in Fifty Shades of Grey film
Rita Ora has been cast alongside Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan in next year’s much-anticipated film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.
Ora will be playing Mia Grey, sister of lead Christian Grey, the billionaire whose passionate and sometimes twisted love affair with student Anastasia Steele, is the focus of the story.
“It’s official! I’ve been cast in @FiftyShades of Grey as Christian’s sister Mia,” tweeted 23-year-old Ora.
The singer, who had more number one singles in the UK charts in 2012 than anybody else, isn’t a stranger to acting. London-based Ora attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School and appeared in Spivs in 2004 and the recent Fast & Furious 6.
Filming began last month for the much-anticipated film which is rumoured to have two versions released – one to be shown in cinemas nationwide and a second “R” rated version which will be released in adult cinemas only.
Due to the original actor to play Christian Grey, Charlie Hunnam, abandoning the film, the release date might be later than August 2014, with the new release date rumoured to be Valentine’s Day 2015. Producers hope that this will promote the film to couples more than women alone. Although the wait will be excruciating, the new release date will make gift shopping for the day of love simple – two cinema tickets please!
