Step back in time at Visible! 2013

The recent release of the movie adaptation of The Great Gatsby invoked 1920s fever in everybody and sparked entire fashion collections that were inspired by the period.

The 20s aren’t quite done with us yet however, and the new Visible! 2013 exhibition at The Book Club in Shoreditch is centred around the decade.

The exhibition features hats from Bidyut Das’ Dasmarca range and celebrates a modern twist on the standard gentlemen’s hats from the 1920s. Photographed by Giacomo Favilla and Liat Chen, the exhibition is an eclectic mixture of images and installations.

Described as “one of the most promising designers of the graduates of his class”, Das’ work enjoys rich Indian heritage and makes use of the vibrant colours that are central to the culture he grew up in.

The designer will present a range of different styles of hat including trilbies, pork pie styles and baker boys and one of the installations will feature a suspended hat display that will symbolise the sense of freedom and progress that the 1920s gave the British people.

The exhibition’s photographers are no strangers to success either and Favilla’s work can be seen in magazines such as Cosmopolitan and American Vogue.

Liat Chen is the curator at The Book Club as well as having produced images for the exhibition and chose to blend fashion and architecture in order to produce some stunning shots.

Encapsulating the magical atmosphere of the 1920s and reviving some of the period’s best loved fashion trends, Visible! 2013 is a must-see for every fashion lover.

The Visible! 2013 exhibition is due to run until February 2014 and is located at The Book Club in Shoreditch, London. For more information on the exhibition and the venue visit The Book Club’s website.
