The crop-top trend is back for S/S 2014
It’s time to start working on those abs, ladies; the crop-top trend is back in style next season. The Spice Girls and Britney did it in the 90s and now the trademark of the era is back on the catwalks.
The popular midriff revealing trend has been seen on celebrities like Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry. Last week Twilight star Kristen Stewart attended the Chanel Métiers d’Art Paris-Dallas collection fashion show wearing high-waist trousers matched with a belly-free grey top from the brand’s spring/summer 2014 collection.
The hot trend was featured in many designers’ collections at New York Fashion Week in various shapes and forms.
British designer label PPQ London has included the style in its spring/summer 2014 collection with a romantic flowery print in bright and lively colours. The short top can be cleverly matched with high-waist trousers or a maxi skirt for an elegant look.
French fashion house Hervé Léger, known for its stylish bodycon dresses, has also presented some cropped pieces in its spring/summer 2014 fashion show. The brand’s own interpretation of the trend is sexy and sophisticated. The Hervé Léger crop-top designs are long-sleeved, drawing attention not only to the midriff, but also focusing attention on the arms.
The trend is set, now it’s your turn to decide if you want to work on those abs or wait until next season. If we’re lucky, tunics will be in again.
