Key fashion: Key Leaf
With a royal garden of flowers blossoming all over the catwalks from the S/S 2014 collections last year, a company that doesn’t just prize itself in fast-burning muses, but appreciates the beauty in nature and models that go into clothing has emerged.
Key Leaf, with the key in the name, displays floral prints in an array of beautiful and intriguing designs. Having started in 2009 by sisters that grew up immersed in fashion, Adriana and Claudia Chaparro Pignalosa, the brand has considerably grown since then. With their collective knowledge of fashion design, architectural design and fashion accessories, together with a business degree, as well as having an insight into Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen, Prada and Chopard, the credentials behind the creation of this brand are significant.
Their main aim? To provide a floral explosion sourced from the inspiring ways of nature, casting colour over dreary-weathered London, creating automatic sunshine and summer each day of the year. The clothing is created by Adriana’s watercolour drawings being transformed into digital patterns, which are then replicated in the clothing developed by Claudia.
Their Resort 2014 collection is no exception. Their ongoing inspirational views, with items being delicately crafted from 100% twill silk along with individual and unrepeatable designs, the company displays clothing of the utmost luxurious quality.
This collection consists of the exotic 60s style and multi-coloured punchy sunflowers contrasted with powerful backgrounds printed upon the delicate material. It also proudly presents watercolour mirages of undetectable flowers, as if you are casting your eyes over row upon row of beautiful summer scenery. The patterns aren’t the only eye-catching nature of the clothing, as the fitting of the outfits also stand out, with items that delicately drape off the body, suggesting curves underneath, and revealing skin that the sun would cast itself over only to complement the clothing even more.
As you walk away along a sun-kissed beach, the caramelised sun submerging itself into the marine blue sea, the weightless material would float along behind you, not only leaving your footsteps behind, but a memory…
