Angelys Balek press day: Where fashion and art come together
Fashion and WGSN-nominated designer Angelys Balek launched her debut collection in London this week. Using inspiration and works of art stemming from across the world, the collection has arrived just in time for fashion week.
The collection is like nothing you’ve seen before, and the outfits are something you can certainly talk about. It’s filled with unique, diverse pieces that are all intricate and creative in design and nature, but can be tailored to different styles, from playful and sophisticated to party and work. The dresses in particular take aspects from lots of memorable decades in fashion, such as 50s shape dresses with 70s prints, and mixes them together to create a different combination. The collection is filled with beautiful dresses, skirts, playsuits and suits that vary in design and print. The pieces are well-structured, especially the dresses. They all prove to be statement pieces but will still work perfectly in every wardrobe. All the prints are hand-drawn by the designer herself. Using nature and natural elements, Angelys plays with everything to make a unique new collection.
The collection is for anyone who isn’t afraid of pattern; each garment is filled with lots of brave pieces but still manages to work so well in your wardrobe. Dedicated to the adventurous women who love style, the collection is for those who aren’t afraid to express themselves through fashion.
As a designer, Angelys definitely has high hopes for its future and hopes to stock her collection in top places like Selfridges, Harrods and Fenwick. However, Angelys holds a special place in her heart for department store, Liberty, because it caters to different people and has a bit of a quirky style. To her, Liberty is different and a little out there, just like her collection.
When debuting her new collection, Angelys only had one location in mind: London. For her, it was the perfect location. Angelys originated from Thailand, but has strong ties to London. Her knowledge and experience makes her the perfect designer for London and women because she in fact knows them both very well. London is such an important place for her. It’s where she went to school, fell in love with art and grew as a designer. For Angelys, London is where it all started.
So with 2014 and a wonderful debut collection out, what’s next for Angelys? Well the designer hopes to make her brand grow even more. We can expect a lot more from Angelys, with a more mature look and new swimwear designers. After falling in love with this new designer, it will surely be exciting to watch her and the collection grow. We’ve already got a few pieces on our birthday wish list and we can’t wait till the full collection hits the stores.
