Zara Phillips gives birth to baby girl
Zara Tindall has given birth to a baby girl. The Queen’s granddaughter had her first child delivered at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
The baby weighs 7 lbs and 12 oz and is 16th in the line to the throne. However, she will not hold a royal title and has not yet been named yet.
Mrs Tindall’s husband, Mike Tindall, was present at the birth. The couple married in 2011. He wrote on Twitter: “Thanks so much for all your kind messages. Definitely the best day of my life today, so happy! The girls are both doing great!”
Zara Tindall and her husband met at England’s Rugby World Cup-winning campaign in Australia in 2003. She is expected to return for the 2014 World Equestrian Games having previously won an individual gold medal in the three-day event in 2006.
Zara was awarded BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2007, following in her mother Princess Anne’s footsteps, who received the same accolade in 1971.
Tindall won a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games, where she competed as part of the British team, and is planning to compete in the next Olympic Games in Rio, which will be held in 2016.
