Four DIY beauty tips to beat the winter blues
With winter in full swing, don’t let yourself get caught up with the blues. Here are four DIY beauty tricks to help you stay fresh through the colder season.
Give your skin a boost
If you’re anything like us, dry skin is the bane of your existence, and the very reason the winter months can be a total drag. Always remember, exfoliation is your friend. To give your skin an instant boost, try mixing a bit of sugar into your favourite face wash. It’ll leave your skin feeling mega smooth, and we guess the sugary smell isn’t all that bad either!
Add some lustre to your hair
Thirsty, static-friendly hair is most definitely something that plagues a lot of us through this season. To add some lustre, try a honey and olive oil treatment. Mix four tablespoons of honey with six tablespoons of olive oil and apply evenly to hair. Pop a plastic bag over it, and leave for 15-30 minutes for a complete hair transformation. Thank us later.
Drink water
Drinking water isn’t just good for your skin, but good for your overall health, so makes sure to keep yourself hydrated.
Take care of your feet
There is nothing sexy about dry, cracked feet. Try a milky foot bath (one cup of milk, five cups of warm water), and if you’re so inclined, follow it up with a DIY foot scrub (four tablespoons of salt or sugar in half a cup of oil of your choice: preferably baby, almond or coconut). Massage the bottoms of your feet in a circular motion, and follow up with a vigorous pumice stone scrub. After you’ve rinsed and dried, try rubbing a bit of salicylic acid in before you apply moisturiser. Put a pair of socks on, and keep them on for at least four hours of the night.
