NYFW – Kaelen A/W 2014 collection

New CFDA incubator inductee Kaelen Haworth infused her usual dark and tailored collection with a hint of girlish charm in her new autumn/winter collection.

A red mohair fabric that worked as a coat, sweatshirt and peplum skirt was paired with pale pink wool pieces and accented with pink fox fur stoles. The designer gave a needed edge to very feminine ruffles that zipped off the sides of a dress and pants or peplum of a skirt, adding a multifunction feature.

This Canadian is on to something spectacular in this collection, and we were inspired by it.

Amongst Kaelen Haworth’s idols you’ll find Tilda Swinton, Jeff Bridges and Joan Didion. Kaelen is a graduate of Parsons, and one of ten designers currently in CFDA’s (Fashion Incubator) 3.0. Kaelen cut her teeth interning for Stella McCartney and Jenni Kayne before launching her own collection in 2010.
