NYFW – Emerson by Jackie Fraser-Swan A/W 2014 collection
Emerson’s autumn/winter 2014 runway show on Friday, 7th February, beautifully expressed Jackie Fraser-Swan’s vision of non-conformity, positivity and assertive self-reliance; a vision that the Boston-based designer has been shaping and pursuing since the beginning of her brand in 2010.
As loud music blasted through the space, models stepped with confidence and assertiveness on a maze-like runway, zig-zagging through a crowd filled with anticipation and excitement, showing a great variety of garments, fabrics and contrasting textures.
Flowing dresses with beautiful counterpoints of textures and sheer elements clashed with the chosen footwear: the heavy, masculine, and edgy Dr. Martens. This clash created unique looks that are meant for the “powerful and free-spirited modern woman” who, as the designer explains is intelligent, independent and most of all “not afraid to be herself or stand out in a crowd”.
At the end of the show Jackie Fraser-Swan came out from backstage and received great appreciation from the crowd and a warm embrace from her husband and their four young daughters with whom, holding hands, she walked, skipped and danced along the runway.
