NYFW – Georgine A/W 2014 collection
Ladylike attitude was the theme of Georgine’s autumn/winter 2014 collection. Voluminous curls and red lips were paired with leather frocks and elbow-length gloves. This collection was both the lady and the tramp, in a good way. Georgine’s “girl” this season could easily go from the office to the back of her boyfriend’s motorcycle in the same outfit.
Several looks had amazing fur coats and stoles that shimmered down the runway. A particular outfit was a cashmere pink dress and a black stole that turned pink at the tips as it wrapped around the model. It was unreal how much contrast there was between vampy and lady. Fifties-inspired hats and edgy aviator sunglasses accessorised leather dresses. There were a series of looks that combined both leather and an ornate, peacock green jacquard in pants, skirts, dresses and jackets. While the colours were a little off-putting in these looks, the juxtaposition between the rough leather and the delicate jacquard was incredibly innovative.
The styling in this show was also very effective. The accessories made sense, the clothing ensembles made sense, and the hair and make-up added to the drama of this show. Women all around will definitely respond to the style of this clothing and we can’t wait to see how Georgine evolves for spring.
