NYFW – Parkchoonmoo A/W 2014 collection

To understand a collection is to understand the inspiration process of the mind behind the design, and with designer Demi Park that approach might takes us back 25 years to the beginning of her career and the concept behind Parkchoonmoo.ParkChoonMoo - Theresa Balderas - The Upcoming - 2

She describes it as “De Moo” literally meaning “from zero” or “out of nothing”. She understands this (nothingness) as unlimited boundaries and beauty. Now contemplating these two specific aspects of the creative process, we can assume the emblematic aesthetic of her autumn/winter 2014 collection.ParkChoonMoo - Theresa Balderas - The Upcoming - 5

There is an incredible contrast in these revolutionary pieces of outerwear clothes that came from the use of neutral colours, many beiges and whites, with the occasional appearance of camel, as well as navy and black. The fabrics include alpaca, lamb leather, beaver, cashmere, fused felts and organic cotton. The aspect of the entire look resembles a white warrior, a woman without limits, strong in her skin, the courageous feeling of a post-modern rebellion. Broad pants, with oversized pockets, loose jackets, imprecise silhouettes and relaxed constructions accompanied high, fearless shoes hidden under the cube shape of an unfinished fabric.ParkChoonMoo - Theresa Balderas - The Upcoming - 31

There is a true dedication to explore the many possibilities of the designs, the cubism being her primary concept for this collection and the different forms of beauty and unlimited expressions of fashion that is without a doubt a presence that every piece claims.
