NYFW – Diesel Black Gold A/W 2014 collection
Diesel Black Gold is the division of Italian casual fashion staple Diesel, known for its sleek rock chic aesthetics. The brand showed its collection separately from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and chose the Mail Sorting Room of Midtown Manhattan’s Moynihan Station for its location, bringing to the show an industrial and alternative vibe.
This season for Diesel Black Gold is entirely in the monochromatic colours and metallics – its palette contained black, white, charcoal, silver and gunmetal. The clothes are inspired by nostalgic ideas of futurism – iconic elements from an astronaut’s suit are melted into leather and cotton parkas and hooded jackets, while the pants are anatomically cut from leather flannel and coated cotton, with engineered seams to enhance the leg and shimmering side details. Bustier and shift mini dresses are cut out of new-age materials such as scuba neoprene and cady, often decorated with studded metal disks and zippers.
In terms of accessories, Diesel Black Gold armoured the models with metal toecap flat boots with front zippers and multiple buckles, sleek metal trimmed pumps, black shoulder bags with mirrored metal discs and metal plaque belts.
The autumn/winter collection makes an impression with its cold chic vibe and is definitely a breath of fresh air from the floral motifs and winter pastels predominating the catwalks of 2014’s A/W New York Fashion Week.
At the show we noticed popular Italian fashion blogger and concept store owner Eleonora Carisi, hanging out in front of the venue with a blonde friend.
