At the Designer’s Loft on one cold winter Monday, the white and contemporary top floor called in a revolutionary fun audience with an edgy personality, and the open space with tonnes of natural light became the scenario for the introduction of Dominic Louis’ autumn/winter 2014 collection.
We got a chill as we listened to the Russian opera in the background as the show started. “This season was inspired by the growth we’ve found through listening to our surroundings and adapting to them,” Louis explained.
Well-made sweater dresses, baggy pants, long warm leather jackets with powerful vertical silhouettes and a palette of softened greys were mixed with black and a touch of carmine. These women portrayed the idealism of an earthy, futuristic army. With sumptuous cuts, the fabrics worked well together with the well-made tailoring.
This intense, moody look is so particular; it’s a testament to the richness of well-placed, delicately finished materials and an “I run the world” cue.
