NYFW – Katty Xiomara A/W 2014 collection
Katty Xiomara’s autumn/winter 2014 collection had to be the most wearable show fashion week has seen yet. Practically every preppy shirt and skirt combination could have been taken right off the model, thrown on the guest that changed the fastest, and worn out to a subsequent party. Xiomara’s looks were impeccably styled, with her bright, witty colours and fitted silhouettes. While her dresses were quite chic, her most successful pieces where the coats and pants adorned in her modern, geometric print fabric. This was a common thread throughout the show, and encompassed her colour palette of a sandy beige, poppy red, navy blue, grey and canary yellow.
Xiomara’s collection, because of the use of collars and lots of pieces, very much had a sense of 1970s, happy chicness. The models’ hair was even left in natural waves that begged for a modern flower crown. Her attempt at menswear was also successful, using monochromatic versions of her prints in pants and shirts.
Xiomara’s collection, while slightly more suited for spring, offers a charming option for fall fashion that we are sure many people will find appealing.
