NYFW – Pamella Roland A/W 2014 collection

A black shining leather coat opened the runway show of distinguished designer Pamella Roland last Tuesday, a black coat so particular and striking that it reflected a certain sexiness and a known attitude found in the daily avenues of Manhattan. And this praise factor is not too far from the origins of what inspired this autumn/winter 2014 collection, which is the energy of New York City’s architecture as captured by TJ Wilcox’s In the Air exhibit.

The fashion house, which opened in 2002, takes pride in making all of its collections, so it’s a certainty to affirm that this runway show is the most personal ever.

There were elegant dresses in textured fabrics such as laminated windowpane tweed and lambskin, wrapped coats with fur accents and transitional separates enhanced with geometric, multi-dimensional beading.

The colour palette reflects rich tones of berry and navy with highlights of silver, gunmetal and pale gold. The fusion of various textures, details and colours lend to an abstract interpretation of the city’s art deco with a modern sophisticated twist.

These gowns are made to fill the finest expectations of leading females. Don’t forget the black coat.
