Xiao Li catwalk show report for LFW A/W 2014
She was recently named the Fashion Scout’s Merit Award winner for autumn/winter 2014 so we were already expecting something unique from Xiao Li. And we certainly weren’t disappointed.
The catwalk at Freemason’s Hall turned into a futuristic scene on a marshmallow planet as models strutted down the runway with pink washed, slightly fuzzy hair matched with dramatic pink eyes. Their look was softened with rinse of pale blue tones and creamish whites.
Li’s designs were puffy and powdery, looking almost good enough to eat! A particularly intriguing piece was the voluminous dungarees. They hung over a crisp white oversized shirt. Royal blue also seeped through the collection, with intricate white lacing adding a hint of chic to the playful designs.
The Royal College of Art graduate showed off her remarkable and magical imagination in today’s show. She had the audience captivated with each piece offering another intriguing kink.
The Chinese designer concluded the show with a dramatic twist. The final model appeared luminous as she drifted up the catwalk – a neon blue shining through her capacious white garment. The lights were dimmed and a hiss of whispers spread through the venue as people’s eyes followed the blueish glow into darkness.
