Yifang Wan catwalk show report for LFW A/W 2014
Yifang Wan is a young and talented fashion designer mainly known for her effortlessly elegant designs, which seem to contain a martial arts and sculptural feel to them, due to their sharp cuts. Having already been awarded the L’Oreal professional young designer award at central Saint martins’ BA fashion degree show in addition to securing herself a place at the MA fashion design womenswear course to now showcasing her work at the London Fashion Week, she is a true young talent in the fashion industry.
Yifang Wang’s autumn/winter 2014 collection was an absolute stunning oriental assortment. Despite a limited colour palette of blacks, brick greys, whites and mermaid greens the collection had a very glamorous feel to it which was subtly added by the use of sparkling fabrics which gave the overall collection a multi-dimensional and daring feel. The sparkly fabrics, bold colours along with sharp and strong lines in the designs had a strong impact on the whole collection. Every outfit we saw on the catwalk had sharp straight lines in the shape and design which gave the collection a strong but slightly masculine feel to it, especially with the addition of blazers and khaki in the collection.
Unlike any other collection we saw today, the designer made use of eyewear as an accessory to finish of each outfit, which once again had a glitter finish to them adding a stronger impact on the overall look. The use of glasses gave almost an extraordinary feel to it.
