Fashion Now: Estonia collection presentation for LFW A/W 2014
It’s not often you hear Estonia and fashion in the same sentence, but London’s Fashion Now: Estonia showcase has given the traditionally Soviet country a new lease of life. Ensuing previous successful Estonia events across the world, the international exhibitionists teamed with Notion magazine to celebrate London’s multicultural heritage this year.
Much to the surprise of most fashionistas, Estonia subverts the conventional lacklustre Soviet province when it comes to fashion, presenting an intellectually simplified interpretation of Western designs.
Upon arrival to the showcase, a revelatory display of bright gowns and stylish (and short) shift dresses by some of Estonia’s top designers were quick to set the scene for us.
A black, chest-baring sweetheart-cut corset gown instantly rid Estonia of its nebulous fashion status, alongside an elegant deep red floor-length dress to complement the female silhouette, enriched with an exquisitely designed puff-sleeve rouched bolero.
But it was an ostentatious 3D metallic patchwork jacket, finished with a gold glitter, that really endowed Estonia with a place in London’s competitive fashion mecca.
What’s more, visitors were treated to free cocktails – the perfect aperitif to devour the gorgeousness! Top marks for the brains behind this one!
