Britain’s Top Designer show report for LFW A/W 2014
Fashions Finest is an award-winning fashion events company that takes pride in allowing emerging new talent to show off their skills. Sunday evening, at the Grand Connaught Rooms five designers showcased their designs in hopes of being announced Britain’s Top Designer.
As we entered the venue our ears were filled with the lively music being belted out by Maria Evangelou and band. Soon enough everyone found their places and presenter Eve Yasmine hit the runway to introduce us to the judges, all perfectly positioned at the end of the runway and ready to check out the fresh talent.
First up was Cassandra Stephenson who announced her designs’ presence by showing off her mosaic bags and shoes. As her collection poured down the runway you noticed the styles becoming more and more dramatic. Her dresses featured intricate bodices, a particular favourite of ours was the almost Grecian style cream flowing dress which rose at the front to show off the model’s legs and spilled onto the floor behind.
Next up was Sofia Douvari who presented a very romantic-inspired collection. It was feminine with unusual aspects intertwined. A simple bodice dress in white and lilac flowed down the runway making the model look like something out of a dream sequence – all tranquil and pretty.
Milan Imrichova was next up presenting a vibrant collection. When one of the judges questioned what put her dresses together she replied with a giggle: “My thinking put them together”. And when this was followed up with: “What is your target market?”, the sassy designer quickly retorted: “I design special dresses for special girls!”
The penultimate designer to show off her stuff was Simonetta Sabo. Sabo’s designs captured the audience – they were weird and wonderful. We loved the oversized jacket panelled with two tones of blue. The jacket was embellished with foil cuffs and large foil panels running down the coat’s breast. Sabo likes to uses recyclable materials in her designs and she certainly does it well.
Last but not least, Zeeno Dee took over the runway to show of a winning collection. Yes, that’s right Zeeno was crowned the winner of the night for her extravagant and elegant couture dresses which are inspired by unconventional shapes and lines to celebrate the female form. The audience had a hunch Zeeno would be announced the winner after observing the high quality gowns that swam past. Each one featured fantastic structuring, making the models’ bodies look even more amazing.
It was a great show and there is no doubt we will be hearing the names of these talents in the fashion scene again. Thanks to Fashions Finest for hosting a great show!
