Solange Knowles announces first project for collaboration with Puma
If the excitement of New York Fashion Week kicking off the AW14 season wasn’t enough fashion news to keep you going this week, then Solange Knowles has somehow managed to make the weekend even better. Already covering singer, actress, mother and being Queen B’s sister on her CV, Solange has now added art director and creative consultant for Puma to her job list.
In her first role for the brand, she has recently launched her “Girls of Blaze” project, expressed – of course – through the vital media of Instagram. An image of her perfectly poised derriere in a pair of the newly designed kicks sliding through water appeared last Thursday. As colourful as her personality and fashion style, this particular project features three of her favourite New York designers: William Okpo, Gerlan Jeans and Hisham Bharoocha.
In 1992, Puma launched “The Disk”, an innovative idea that saw getting rid of laces and replacing them with a dial that tightens the shoe for an individual, custom fit. Introducing them to the world of women’s trainers was Solange’s job and she has done that through a palette of rainbow colours, reflective of her view of Brazil.
The lookbook shows the trainers being worn in every single situation possible. Our favourites? The Burlap Rainbow trainer which is like the trainer every little girl could ever dream of.
The collection is already on sale in America, available on the Opening Ceremony website, and will be launched later on this February.
