Les 100 Ciels launches elegant SS14 collection in-store
French-named brand Les 100 Ciels launched their S/S 2014 collection in their beautiful shop on St Christopher’s Street, and showcased the beautiful elegances that linen, cashmere and amazing designs can be.
Les 100 Ciels are a Parisian-based fashion house that started off when they were inspired by Chinese poetry, which provides the idea of infinity, to develop on Les 100 Ciel, which also means “essential” in French pronunciation. The metaphorical meaning, which is “the sky” and the inspiration, form the words, shines from their products, creating beautiful colour cashmere on wonderfully designed clothes.
The line is based on spring; the magnificent colours woven into the new knits are vibrant pinks, yellows and blues like the late sunsets and sunrises we get to admire at this wonderful time of year. With clever cuts and inspiring shapes, Les 100 Ciels still keep to the classics shapes but with unique twists, like their beautiful cashmere jumpers, which have an exquisite cut at the back, or their short cut, sleeveless tops that helps you create delicious layers.
Their dresses are made of sultry silk, which glides and hang off your body perfectly, no matter what shape. The care and craftsmanship that has gone into the shapes and cuts of these are genius and superbly done, paired with the organic, sustainable, raw yarns that they source from their own goat farms in Mongolia, the line is not only gorgeous, but ethically sustainable too.
Another stunning feature is the age range it covers. All modern and in line with the latest trends, every piece can be worn by fashionable women of all ages, with them looking elegant, sophisticated and fabulously trendy.
Les 100 Ciels opened their doors to us, showcasing their breathtaking pieces and treating us to the delicious and sublimely decorated Lola’s Cupcakes and creating their own amazing cocktails with a concoction of gin, pomegranate and elderflower, which perfectly matches the freshness and crispness of spring, the focus of the whole evening.
It was a delight on the senses, especially touch, as all the clothes are so incredibly soft! Especially their own invention of “cash-air” cashmere that is so light, it reminds you of the clouds; it’s so soft you’d think you weren’t wearing anything at all!
To simply put it, everything in store and online is beautiful. The look, the feel, the ethics and the history of the line and brand are wonderful and it’s a firm favourite of The Upcoming.
