Shellys London is back!
Remember the days when Shellys was the place to get your shoes? Well, now there is no need to reminisce, as they are back and undoubtedly bigger than ever!
For a long time, Shellys London was the way forward. Starting in the 1940s as a small family-run company, the brand made a small number of stores across London and made a name for itself by placing itself at the heart of the capital’s ever changing fashion scene. As they hit the big time in the 60s, their iconic shoes fed all the way through to the 90s and were the one-stop shop for any girl’s shoes.
Shellys were the very first brand to introduce platform shoes and Chelsea boots, which were worn on the feet of some of the Spice Girls. Shellys also designed footwear in collaborations with the likes of Vivienne Westwood and The Jam back in the day.
Now owned by ALDO, Shellys have now released an S/S 2014 collection, which is utterly fantastic. The collection is big and chunky, full of block heels and flatform bottoms. Espadrilles with cut outs and a platform, to hologram silver flat sandals are featured for the summer, as well as other shoes which scream street style with a 90s feel. Grungy and glamorous, Shellys have once again got it exactly right for 2014.
As quoted on the Shellys Tumblr page: “The collection is approachable and unique, historically significant but fully embedded in the present,” and we couldn’t have put it better ourselves. Already on the feet of the likes of Bip Ling and Pixie Lott, we can’t wait for a Shellys summer!
