Uncommon Nonsense S/S 2014 collection
Uncommon Nonsense – recently featured in Vogue – has released its new spring/summer collection, and it’s certainly not one to be missed.
Designed and stitched by Gemma McKeating Harris, each dress is handmade using locally-sourced fabrics and vintage lace.
Inspired by the secret gardens of Alice in Wonderland, the spring/summer collection is the fourth one for the brand, with The Painted Roses, Flamingo, Bunny Hop and 6 Impossible Things dresses all being inspired by the Queen of Hearts scenes in the infamous Lewis Carroll tale.
Uncommon Nonsense has also introduced its first fabric design – a unicorn fabric for Ellie is a Unicorn.
“As always our fabrics are locally sourced and this season we are proud to unveil our very own fabric design. I have wanted to use a unicorn fabric for some time but struggled to find one right for us. I drew the design and laid out the colours, what angles I needed it all at, and the UNonsense illustrator Kate Newman used her technical skills to bring it to life. It was then sent to a local printers and we are thrilled with the finished product,” Gemma explains.
Mini-skirts in an array of prints with faux leather panels have been added to the online shop.
The Explain Yourself! mini-skirt has a tribal look perfect for the seasonal trends, while many of the dresses, such as the Painted Rose, White Rabbit and A Game Of Chess, can also be bought in skirt form.
In addition, you can now sleep in Uncommon Nonsense designs – with its first range of tees and pyjama shorts. Pyjamas in Bananas are quirky pyjama bottom shorts, while the tees feature Uncommon Nonsense’s signature lace collars. The tees include The Flamingo tee, the I’m Late I’m Late I’m Late tee, The Rabbit tee, the AHOY! tee and the UNonsense UK tee by Kate Newman illustration.
With the dresses and skirts available in sizes 6-22, and a free bespoke service offered for those who require a specific fit, it’s hard to find something not to love about Uncommon Nonsense.
