Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year: The Winners

Now in its third year, Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year is an international competition, open to professional and amateur, old and young and offers a £5000 prize to the overall winner. The entries showcase photography of people cooking, people farming, celebrations, food for sale, food in the field and much more. In an era where photography with the use of an smart phone to professional camera is acceptable, the evening celebrated a vast quality of photos from the beginner to professional photographer.

Ever since the 400 shortlisted images were released in an online gallery on Friday 28 March 2014, Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year and it’s increasing fan base eagerly awaited the news of the final 100 most exciting, inspiring and diverse images celebrating the culture of food. This year also saw the introduction of several exciting new categories including Politics of Food, Food Bloggers and unearthed® Food in Film and first of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Pink Lady® Food Photographer category winners were announced at the star-studded awards ceremony at the Mall Galleries in London compered by chair of the judges, journalist and food critic, Jay Rayner, and took place in front of more than 400 people. The winner of Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2014 was Tessa Bunney (UK/PDR of Lao) for her stunning image, Noodle Making. She was presented with a cheque for £5,000 by Andy Macdonald, Managing Director of Coregeo, Master Licensor for Pink Lady® in the UK, headline sponsor of the award.

This year judges included David Loftus, Jamie Oliver’s photographer, Yotam Ottolenghi, restaurateur, chef and author, Sanjeev Kapoor,India’s culinary superstar, Andrew Scrivani, food photographer/New York Times, Julia Bradbury, TV presenter, Justine Roberts, CEO and founder Mumsnet. Champagne Taittinger were the honorary choice of champagne for celebratory toast and the delicious canapes were catered for by the ever-popular Table Talk caterers and wine by Errazuriz Wine.
