London Collections: Men – Jonathan Saunders S/S 2015 presentation
The Glaswegian fashion designer has produced a bold and colourful fashion line that is inspired by 80s Italian interior with a dash of 21st century style.
After winning the Lancome Colour award in 2002 as well as the Fashion Enterprise award in 2006, at the British Fashion Awards no less, we were only to expect great things from Jonathan Saunders and the British fashion mastermind did not let us down.
He went on to work with the likes of Alexander McQueen, Christian Lacroix and won numerous other awards including the Breakthrough Menswear Designer Brand trophy at the GQ Awards. Now in 2014 he presents his latest menswear line at the famous London Collections: Men, where countless worldwide famous fashion names have once appeared.
The S/S 2015 collection has a clear stimulus; Saunders cites “Italian interiors in 1981” as his inspiration and that idea is reflected in each and every piece. The colours are bold and proud with mustard yellow playing a strong part, and both brown and grey coming in a close second. The heavy stripes and chunky knitwear is also rather reminiscent of the 80s, but in true Jonathan Saunders style it is all rather appealing.
The cut of the shirts, the detailing on the jumpers and, of course, the styling provide the 80s nostalgia freshness only Saunders could deliver.
