London Collections: Men – Xander Zhou S/S 2015 show
Xander Zhou’s S/S 2015 menswear collection show began with blaring, dark electro music whilst Matrix-style models filed out.
Whilst the colour scheme was dark and metallic, splashes of colourful sparkles were thrown into the show with loose-fitting blazers entirely encrusted with green and pink gems.
Zhou has focused this collection on loose-fitting, flowing cuts of fabric and a warping of classic designs such as Jean Paul Gaultier’s iconic marinière stripes. Smocks and shadowy, mottled prints continue this contrast between the classic and the futuristic, with sinister tones throughout his collection. The show closed with Star Wars music blaring, rather fitting to the style of Xander Zhou; futuristic, warrior clothing adapted for a city in summer, skateboards and headbands accessorising the street-wear-inspired pieces.
Certainly far from commercial, Xander Zhou has created an innovative spring/summer collection, maintaining his position at the cutting edge of fashion.
