River Island announces collaboration with Liz Black for latest Design Forum collection
British high-street fashion brand River Island will be pairing up with Liz Black for their autumn Design Forum range.
Every season River Island teams up with a designer to create a one-off collection only available online and in major River Island stores. This time around they have selected Liz Black, the mastermind behind Lady Gaga’s infamous “circle” dress she wore whilst visiting London back in 2011.
The womenswear designer will be following in the footsteps of Katie Eary and Joseph Turvey who have previously designed fashion lines for River Island.
Black graduated from Central St Martins college in 2010 and not only can she count Lady Gaga as a fan but she has also been nominated for a Scottish Fashion Award and was selected by Vogue Italia’s senior fashion editor Sara Maino as a “Vogue Talent”. With all of this in mind we are sure to be in for a treat when the collection is unveiled in the next few months.
Black’s nine-piece collection will be taking inspiration from Russian royalty, namely Princess Anastasia Romanov with muffs, corset-silhouetted dress and clutch bags taking centre stage. The colours that will be used are more than suited for autumn and winter with cool hues of grey, black and blue being used as a foundation with prints and motifs used to bring the designs to life.
Mary Nighy will be directing a video in conjunction with Black’s collection and all will be revealed at London Fashion Week’s Film Event in September.

Prices start at £30 and go up to £100 – a small price to pay to own a design by the one and only Liz Black.
