Maria Francesca Pepe AW14: diamonds in the rough

Maria Francesca Pepe AW14: diamonds in the rough

As a designer, you know you have hit the big time when you have the likes of Kate Moss or Rihanna wearing one of your pieces, but when you can add both of those names to your extensive list of celebrity fans, you just know that you have stumbled onto something extraordinary.

Maria Francesca Pepe has achieved just that in six short years; her edgy and conceptual jewellery range has sent the fashion press into a frenzy, whilst also gaining noteworthy exposure from the fashion elite such as Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue. With this in mind, you can imagine how excited we were to be given a sneak preview at MFP’s AW14 collection, and we can confirm that it is worth the wait.

MFP is known for pushing the boundaries when it comes to fashion, yet they also know how to toe the line of making their pieces accessible and wearable for a variety of different women. The designers pay a staggering amount of attention to detail, encapsulating both sleekness and sub-cultural references into their designs. They revive classic elements of aesthetics and silhouettes whilst also injecting a certain degree of street style through the use of edgy slogans and symbols.

The AW14 collection centres on themes of “life, love and soul” whilst being heavily influenced by pop art, street graffiti and urban culture. The new collection features an array of fluorescent and neon-coloured gems set within contemporary chic metals. The collection also plays with the concept of graffiti and we see bold logos etched into the designs. All in all, this adds up to a very cool, modern and unique lookbook.

MFP have succeeded in not only inventing a fashion empire to be proud of, but they have also breathed a breath of fresh air into the art of jewellery making; moving forward and challenging previous aesthetics and creating a collection which is both raw and fresh. Each and every piece is beautifully handcrafted and offers an air of versatility along with a competitive price tag. MFP offers their customers the opportunity to stand out from the crowd and make a statement, which is always something to be applauded. MFP has done more than create a fashion collection; they have set a whole new trend.
