Photo sharing service Instagram launches new time-lapse app Hyperlapse

The US social media firm Instagram has introduced a new time-lapse app called Hyperlapse.

The app has in-built stabilization technology which allows users to obtain smooth videos and photos when they are on the move. To obtain this type of high quality video in the past, users would have had to use tripods and special cameras. Not anymore, with Hyperlapse tripods would be a thing of the past.

Now, any social media enthusiast can use this simple app and shoot professional-looking videos. Instead of shots of hipsters having picnics in the park, Instagram users can now expect to see lots of videos of drunken dancing, jogs along the beach and slow motion meal times!

The new app is incredibly simple to use and requires no account. Users open the app to get straight onto the camera and like any other usual video footage, tap once to start recording and again to stop. It comes with a unique element which offers its users to choose a video speed. The default setting is six times faster than normal but this can be adapted to whatever effect is desired.

The video’s duration can be of any length but in order to share straight to Instagram users must only upload 15 seconds worth of footage.

The app is only available on IPhones and unfortunately cannot be accessed with Android but Instagram plans to bring it to Android in future.
