Jay Godfrey catwalk show report for NYFW S/S 2015
Jay Godfrey took fashion week by storm with his fabulous country meets rock‘n’roll looks. At the trendy Hudson Hotel in midtown Manhattan, steps from the madness of Lincoln Center, models pranced on bales of hay while sporting big hair à la Brigitte Bardot, flirty makeup complete with wide-eyed lashes and standout, intricately-designed nails. Live music was given by barefoot Idgy Dean, which provided a sultry, sexy atmosphere.
New York financier turned designer Jay Godfrey made his debut at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week this year, making a fantabulous entry. His line focused on strong, edgy pieces paired with modern femininity.
High slits, touches of lace and denim were featured throughout, as well as a nod to all things country. The palette focuses on very neutral, wearable colors that transition well from the runway to real life. Silhouettes were fitted, yet fun with tied denim shirts, a standout one-shoulder gown and long emerald fridge dress.
His celebrity clientele includes country star LeeAnn Rhimes, Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari.
