Lie Sangbong catwalk show report for NYFW S/S 2015
With colorful dresses and amazing light shows illuminating the walk way, Lie Sangbong’s Spring/Summer collection 2015, entitled Dream Road, evokes optimism and celebrates life. The South Korean brand prominently features butterfly, floral and cloud motifs. Graphic, lively prints are incorporated into this season’s crisp color palate of white, turquoise, cobalt and purple.
Architectural silhouettes and precise tailoring are the mark of this collection, produced in silk jacquard, linen, silk organza, silk chiffon and fine cotton light and lithe. X-shaped jackets and dresses are decorated with graceful wings of butterflies. Delicate pleating, asymmetric details and the use of holograms jacquard in this season’s prints enhance the visual impact.
The installation in the background of the fashion show was created in collaboration with Jang Seung Hyo, a Korean sculptor and installation artist. It featured 1,188 glass tiles, similar to picture frames, with collage prints that incorporated a selection of iconic prints from the Sangbong archive as well as the motifs debuted this season.
This collection will be available in March 2015 in retailers across the globe, including the brand’s first US boutique located at 30 Gansevoort Street in New York City.
