Koonhor collection presentation for NYFW S/S 2015
Designers Koon Lim and Catrine Thé of Koonhor presented a clever mix of artisanal-style detailing and loosely sweeping silhouettes in their S/S 2015 presentation at Milk Studios on Saturday September 6th.
Self-described as irreverent yet disciplined, Koonhor’s collection stays true to that design aesthetic and they succeed in showcasing a very clear point of view. Oversized trench coats, sweatshirts and boxy tops and skirts are offset by fringe details and abstract prints. All of which make for a unique take on the juxtaposition of masculine and feminine elements they are known for.
Models stood stone-faced with minimal make-up while the room bustled around them, some wearing sculpturally oversized hats with transparent visors, some wearing sunglasses, while all were casual in basic white sneakers with gray socks, which brought an element of sportiness to the looks. Two of the stand-out pieces included an oversized trench in black and white print, and a colorful dress/jacket combo in purple, green, and yellow tapestry fabric.
Overall, the highlights of this Koonhor collection were most definitely in the details. Fringes, prints, fabrics, and handcrafted elements took center stage here, and left us excited to see what the design duo brings to the table next time.
