As the sun set over the first day of Somerset House, Christopher Raeburn presented his S/S 2015 collection in the British Fashion Council show space.
The collection itself, entitled ASCENT, was designed to explore the lightness of flight. Shapes and textures were explored throughout his pieces, starting out with dark colours like navy and grey. Joggers and drawstring one pieces were boyish and beautiful, eventually leading into big parachute like garments and more boyfriend like pieces.
Transforming the catwalk with his sports luxe designs, the collection included bright pink rain macs and homer jackets. Layering was key in the collection and featured see-through hemming and brick work patterns on tops. In addition to this, Raeburn featured jersey dipped hemmed dresses for casual wear as well as smart collared shirt dresses for a more formal look.
Prints inspired by the landscape were a feature within Raeburn’s work, and seemed to portray a marble-like effect at points of the collection. His original fight pilot suits have been renewed for the spring with silk organza creating a fantastic effect to his pieces. Back packs pierced the collection with luxury, continuing the trend from this season into next year and his other accessories also included clutch bags for a more dressed up approach.
