Nasir Mazhar catwalk collection for LFW S/S 2015
A quieter than usual Courtyard Show Space at Somerset House soon became alive with something a little more unique, as Nasir Mazhar presented his designs for spring/summer 2015.
The benches rattled inside the British Fashion Council catwalk as the grimy, bass music started and the first model appeared. Think tribal clashed with luxe sportswear; then you will have Mazhar’s collection down to a tea. Futuristic tribal hair created by Bumble and Bumble saw models walking the catwalk with rope braids and fearless head pieces, as well as dramatic tribal make-up.
As for the clothes, the classic elasticated straps printed with Nasir’s name were a common feature in all of his pieces, ensuring he stays true to his roots, but his baggy, boyish looks had taken a turn towards a more native look. Drapes of material gave the collection a fierce, martial arts feel and some garments were completed with chiffon leg warmers to somehow combine glamour with streetwear.
Underwear being worn as outerwear was taken seriously in the collection and women with bigger breasts and bums replaced zero size models. Elastic suspenders and layered crop tops embraced the models’ bodies to ensure Nasir was still the King of streetwear fashion. Joggers and basic tees that were perfect for a fashionable lazy Sunday were showcased too. Models strolled down the runway in classic Nike trainers turning Mazhar’s streetwear dream into an astounding, powerful success once again.
