Orla Kiely collection presentation for LFW S/S 2015

A sunny Saturday morning in Central London was made even more picturesque at The Vinyl Factory on Marshall Street, as Orla Kiely presented her take on spring/summer 2015. Guests were welcomed into the blank canvas room with a breakfast of champagne and elderflower cocktails and cupcakes presented in the style of a mini garden.

It was instantly clear exactly what your eyes were going to be seeing. As guests were moved into the presentation space, a large pain of glass stood before a stage of flowerpots; giving more hints of what was to come.

As the music started, so did the painting of flowers onto the glass pane by modern pop artist Alia Penner and models holding wooden flowers pleased the audience that stood before them.

True to Orla’s nature, everything floral and fabulous was portrayed in her collection. The idea of the collection aimed to take you through a “stroll through a field of flowers” and was inspired by the films Le Bonheur and Daises. Orla had managed to do exactly that and the models added to the painted flowers by planting their own into the pots as they wandered around.

Taking flower power to its finest, the collection was refreshing and allowed you to revel in the days of summer that seemed to have disappeared from 2014 already so quickly. Flower shaped bags and bright pink hooded jackets stood out in the collection, and some of Orla’s designs this year appeared to take on a androgynous look. Nevertheless, the collection was picture perfect and defined the prettiest of spring collections yet. Shoes were just as delightful on the eye and added to the 60s and 70s feel of the pieces with chunky heels and signature Kiely prints.
