Topshop Unique catwalk show report for LFW S/S 2015

When it comes to high street stores, Topshop undoubtedly holds the title “coolest kid on the block”. No surprise, then, that the Unique show today was the weekend’s most anticipated.

A-lists flocked in abundance to the colossal Topshop Show Space – as ever, Anna Wintour and Sir Philip Green were spotted in the front row – for the preview of the Unique spring/summer 2015 collection.

Cara Delevingne opened the show, headlining an assortment of pulsating, colour block dresses and super-short pleated skirts, drawing inspiration from the British seaside. The young, spirited collection also included cheerleader-style maroon jumpers with chevrons and stripes, and retro cycling jerseys in pillarbox red and midnight blue that popped against stark white A-line skirts. Abbreviated hooded anoraks were tossed over it all, further communicating the sportif vibe.

1950s Grease-inspired high-waisted, skin-tight trousers, paired with bandeaus and off-the-shoulder tops, were next to hit the extended catwalk. There were also lemon yellow and Breton striped co-ordinates, and patterned knits teamed with derrière-baring frilly shorts. The look was completed with wide elasticated waist belts and nude patent heels fastened with white ribbons.

Hair was left wavy and free, whilst lips were painted in various shades of red, and eye make-up was kept to a minimum to emphasise soft, dewy skin.

Jourdan Dunn was first to step on to the runway in Topshop Unique’s eveningwear, showcasing a delicate, black, embellished mini dress, followed by plenty of jewel-coloured satin and sheer, shimmering dresses. Accompanied by the opening bars of Tainted Love, Delevingne ended the show wearing a nude slip, decorated with a smattering of Swarovski crystals, and a knowing smile.
