Alexander Wang x H&M

Alexander Wang x H&M

November 6th is the date that will enable the world to, finally, be able to revel in H&M’s latest collaboration with intrepid designer, Alexander Wang. And, as we approach the all important date, in typical Wang style, a video-game inspired teaser of the upcoming collection has been unveiled, tantalising fashionista’s palettes just a little more before the official launch.

The video shows some of our favourite models, Natasha Poly, Raquel Zimmerman and Isabeli Fontana, along with football player Andy Carroll, leap and run their way through a blizzard; viewers are then invited to scroll their way through the collection which, it’s fair to say, is going to be giving a treacherous workout to all of our wallets, very similar to that faced by the beautiful people in the video.

As well as releasing full collection imagery on 16th October, Wang also put on a show for his guests to remember in order to cause a stir about the collection. The setting? A futuristic style Manhattan gymnasium with guests ranging from Justin Theroux to Mary J Blige to Eddie Redmayne.

It’s been said that the collection “captures the speed of the city, mixing sports and performance for everyday life,” and Wang sure made this clear in his event: Astroturf was laid out on the floor, with track lines being drawn for the models to walk on too. This, however, isn’t the first time Wang’s used his immeasurable creativity to host amazing parties; some of his most renowned post-show New York Fashion Week bashes have been hosted at some unusual venues, a parking lot and a gas station to name but a few.

The release date of November 6th also marks the tenth anniversary of the retailer’s designer collaborations, which have previously included Karl Lagerfeld, in 2004, their first collaboration, Stella McCartney in 2005, and the first collaboration to hit H&M stores worldwide, Matthew Williamson in 2009. Alongside being able to finally view the monochrome, and heavily “Wang” branded collection, the public will also be able to buy a commemorative book of ten years of fabulous collaborations, titled The First Ten Years, featuring never-before-seen images from each of the previous design partners.
