The Pantone colour of 2015: Marsala
Pantone has announced that the colour of the year for 2015 is Marsala (PANTONE® 18-1438). The earthy wine shade “enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability,” says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute®, “this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness”.
Celebrities seem to be in agreement, with many having already showcased this warm and reassuring shade: for example, Blake Lively last May in Cannes, and Zoe Saldana when promoting Guardians of the Galaxy in July.
Marsala proves to be an all-round colour that translates effortlessly to fashion, beauty and accessories, as well as home furnishings and interiors. This shade could be introduced subtly to an ensemble, or colour-blocked with similar red-brown hues for greater impact.
Regarding beauty products, Marsala complements both lighter and darker skin tones; a highly-pigmented finish may be built with lipsticks, blushes and eyeshadows, which fall into the burgundy spectrum. Nail polish is, without doubt, one of the easiest ways to experiment with such a rich and robust Pantone colour.
