Fenwick of Bond St launches Here I Am campaign
1891 saw the introduction of Fenwick of Bond Street to London’s growing collection of upmarket shops, and its owner John James “Jim” Fenwick introduced himself with “Here I am!” 124 years later, and the beginning of 2015 sees a new take on Jim’s words in the now iconic fixture on London’s retail scene. Fenwick as a brand was launched in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1882 and remains a family owned consortium, with 11 stores across England.
This year’s promotion has burst on to Bond St in an explosion of colour, thanks to Fenwick’s commission of typographer Andrei Robu to create the narrative theme to the designs on show in its windows for the year-long campaign. Robu has previously worked with a number of internationally-known brands and events, from Nike Jordan to the 69th Golden Globes. The collaboration with Andrei echoes Jim Fenwick’s enthusiasm for working with new artists.
Fenwick of Bond Street’s managing director David Walker Smith said: “We’re fortunate to hold one of the greatest stories in the history of British retail, which we recognise as our responsibility to protect, and our collaboration with Andrei Robu is a perfect ode to Jim Fenwick as a retail pioneer who was known for employing well known fashion creators of his day.”
The energetic style of Robu’s work takes its inspiration from vintage typefaces, and is a reflection of Fenwick’s bold and fearless approach to business, given a modern twist. The graphic artistry incorporates elements of design used across the decades of Fenwick’s presence in retail, and will progress as the year goes on.
Fenwick of Bond Street is also offering a complimentary limited edition beauty bag to the first 100 shoppers spending £200 and over in the store’s beauty hall. The bag, which is worth £250 contains products by Clarins, Laura Mercier, Suqqu, Chantecaille and Eve Lom.
