Hanley Mellon collection presentation for NYFW A/W 2015
For Hanley Mellon’s Autumn/Winter 2015 presentation, they took their collection to a new level, literally. Attendees were taken up five floors in a large freight elevator before walking into a party, complete with 23 models dressed in Mellon’s stunning creations. Inspired by the team’s trip to Antwerp, each look evoked both of the city’s traditional and contemporary aesthetics.
Shiny, silk blouses and chic, wide-leg pants were layered underneath oversized coats and moto jackets. Pencil skirts in gold brocade and gray suiting could’ve easily gone from the office to evening. The same could be said for the variety of dresses featured in this collection.
Each frock distinctively different from the last, Mellon played with ruching and figure-flattering silhouettes. A particular favorite amongst the group of attendees was a black turtleneck blouse embellished with gold sequins in the front and back. This top was paired with one of Mellon’s new pencil skirts, this one featuring pleated silk panels on the sides, creating a lovely A-line shape on the body.
Rich jewel tones were the color palette of choice for Mellon’s team. Deep crimson, emerald, chartreuse, and black felt both classic and modern. The smaller details like wide belts and scarves furthered the collection’s accessibility, and ease with which customers could personalize the garments for themselves. Overall Mellon’s idea for our Fall 2015 wardrobe is one of traditional wearability with a contemporary edge.
