Conchita Perez collection presentation for LFW A/W 2015
The minute guests walked into the room it was clear that this was no ordinary catwalk show. Newspaper ash which doubled as a catwalk could not go unnoticed; neither could the disturbing TV sets showing white noise and CCTV images. The location looked like something straight out of the set of a horror movie.
When the first model walked out we almost jumped out of our seats as this was unlike anything seen before. From the eerie bouquet of flowers to the paint streaked tears and deathly pale make-up, matched with the models’ theatrical gait, one starts to wonder what goes on inside the mind of Conchita Perez.
The collection consisted of pale colours and dark tones, with each piece bearing a worn-out, distressed look. Dark feathers and black leather gave the effect of crippled birds or burnt newspaper, much like something out of a dark fantasy. Revealing crop tops with long flowy sleeves, bottom-baring trousers, skin-tight midi skirts, bandaged boob tubes – Perez definitely loves to show off the female skin.
The show was certainly one to remember; the collection was undoubtedly unique, creative and attention-grabbing if slightly bizarre.
