James Corden walks the catwalk for Burberry
Strutting his stuff down the catwalk of legendary brand Burberry’s London in Los Angeles event is none other than British actor/comedian James Corden, alongside supermodels Naomi Campbell and Jourdan Dunn at the Griffith Observatory.
In a similar vein to Valentino’s autumn/winter collection that featured Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson promoting Zoolander 2, the Comic Relief star took to the runway as part of a tongue-in-cheek film for The Late Late Show with James Corden. The 159-year-old brand had 36-year-old Corden appear in the finale of the show in front of Vogue editor Anna Wintour, Elton John and the entire Beckham family.
Notably funny moments included Corden demanding a pastry just moments before his walk, and him pushing Naomi Campbell on to the runway. James looked nervous, shaking as he waited his turn; however, it seems Campbell’s catwalk lessons paid off. After she gave him some tips on his Late Late Show, he delivered a calm, collected yet comical performance on the runway wearing a suit and Burberry scarf from this season’s collection – even shaking hands with Anna Wintour in the process.
James had Campbell and her 24-year-old protégé Jourdan Dunn, (the faces of the current Burberry campaign) in stitches as they followed the newbie down the runway, looking fantastic in their earth-tone, printed maxi dresses and loose, wavy hair.
Described by the Burberry chief executive officer as having brought “refinement, sophistication and a real gravitas” to the show, Corden’s performance was an unquestionable success. The recent appearances of comedians on the catwalk broadens the scope of the industry, by attracting fans of comedy as well as clothes, and we hope fashion continues to expand into new and entertaining avenues.
