Royal baby: All hail Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana

Charlotte Elizabeth Diana! At last, we can put a sweet name to the cherub face. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have announced the news, after what seemed like an eternal wait! Following confirmation from Her Majesty the Queen, baby Charlotte’s precious moniker was revealed to all.

There are certainly some strong family influences in the royal couple’s choice with Diana being an obvious tribute to William’s late mother, whilst Charlotte is a subtle nod to her paternal grandfather Charles and is also Pippa Middleton’s middle name. The new princess already has big shoes to fill, also being named after Queen Elizabeth II and the Queen Mother, her great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother respectively.

The royal couple left the Lindo wing of St Mary’s Hospital on Saturday evening and have since retreated to Kensington palace where they have been joined by family members. People in Britain, and around the world, have rallied to share messages of support and joy for the royal couple, with William and Kate expressing their gratitude in response to well-wishers.

The newly expanded royal family are expected to leave for their Norfolk estate later this week, where it is believed they will stay for the coming weeks. We expect to see less of Kate over the next few months, but we’ll certainly be impatient to showcase her post-baby outfits and hopefully catch a glimpse of Princess Charlotte!
