Press day: Comptoir des Cotonniers A/W 2015
Elegantly set in the studio of Portas Agency in London, Comptoir presented their upcoming collection of understated charm to an array of industry leading journalists, freelance stylists, buyers and bloggers. The studio was delicately displayed, highlighting focus pieces that were tastefully put together, expressing the ambiance of the brand successfully.
Renowned for being at the forefront of Parisian chic, this collection demonstrates that this statement continues to ring true through the simplistic feel with small added details which really establish something unique yet so easy to wear – we see basic blouses with lace intertwined, cashmere jumpers with gentle side slits, florals with soft pops of colour and suit jackets with small incisions to highlight collar bones.
Colours tend to be autumnal with the odd burst of reds and royal blues – not to mention a pair of baby pink cord trousers, which really caught our eye! Key pieces include a royal blue suit complete with matching suede sneakers laced up to the side as well as a beautiful sheepskin-lined coat, which was stylishly teamed with double denim. A black, silk jumpsuit is also key to the collection, radiating with sophistication.
Comptoir also vow to bring back cheetah print with dark green trousers and a matching dress as part of the range. Checked patterns were also a notable trend on trousers and wintery jumpers, yet patterns are kept minimalist, in keeping with the chic tone. Trench jackets heavily feature with this being the largest range of trenches in a single collection that they have seen.
Overall, it is the small, thoughtful detailing that sets this collection apart, bringing something new to the table but with a subtle approach. These stunning items have left us with a very long shopping list indeed, but sadly we will have to wait until October for the collection to hit UK stores!
