Disney unveils official Avengers-inspired fashion line for women
In the wake of Joss Whedon’s most recent cinematic triumph, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Disney has officially released a new fashion line inspired by the superheroes. Following in the footsteps of the Avengers, couture superheroes Apparel Company have teamed up with Disney Consumer Products to create a couture collection more stunning than Steve Rogers himself.
The collection was designed by the winners of the first ever Her Universe Geek Couture Fashion Show held at the 2014 Comic –Con International in San Diego, Amy Beth Christenson and Andrew MacLaine.
For winning, the pair were rewarded the exhilarating professional opportunity to design an exclusive fashion collection with Her Universe founder, Ashley Eckstein, for pop-culture and licensed apparel destination Hot Topic. The pair were on hand with the inspiration sketches for the ready-to-wear collection. “It’s been such a pleasure to work with Amy and Andrew to create this line from their initial sketches to the final product sold in Hot Topic stores,” said Eckstein. “Geek fashion is a trend that’s here to stay.”
The final line is a collaboration of vintage styles with super hero twists, consisting of dresses and jackets available in straight and extended sizes. The collection’s six piece set includes a red, white and blue soft Captain America halter dress with the shield design on the skirt; a navy blue and red Thor sailor dress with Mjölnir printed on the skirt and a netting finish at the bottom; a sexy red Stark Industries bomber jacket with the Stark logo on the back; a gorgeous short cut Black Widow dress in red and black; a chic black Widow belted jacket; a beautiful Loki halter dress with a netted finish. The collection will be sold in Hot Topic stores across America retailing between $45 and $60 per dress.
