Billboard Music Awards: Red carpet

Any major award ceremony will always be a big deal. Why? Well, for the entertainment, to start with. And secondly, for us style enthusiasts, it’s because of the red carpet. The annual Billboard Music Awards show never fails to disappoint, always filled with the best in the music and showbiz industry.

So with its high profile, what better place to host it than glitzy Las Vegas? Last Sunday the red carpet was laid out in the city of sin for the most recognized international pop sensations, world- class supermodels and top notch actresses. With this in mind, it’s only natural for the rest of us to monitor their fashion choices. Here’s a glimpse of the best looks from this year’s Billboard Music Award red carpet.

Balmain is certainly having its moment this year. In order for the Parisian fashion house to maintain its high-octane glamour status, it has to be worn by only the best. Flared jumpsuits are always a winner on the red carpet and Taylor Swift’s look is a perfect example of minimal, seventies-inspired charm. With her smoky eyes, nude lips and minimal jewellery, she made sure her brilliant white, cut-out jumpsuit got the recognition it deserved. She receives bonus style points for carefully balancing out the look with a modern box shaped clutch.

Model of the moment, Kendall Jenner was one of the few models to be escorted by Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing. Seen sporting a slicked back hair do, trophy style, boxy blazer and a sassy pair of thigh-high boots, she managed to pull off the sleek and fashion-forward supermodel vibe with pure ease.

Our favourite Brit model Jourdan Dunn opted for more of a retro statement on the red carpet donning a slightly more experimental outfit. Looking early nineties chic, she was every inch the superstar.

Meanwhile, fellow Brit Rita Ora flew across the pond for the awards show aiming to please. As the style icon is never seen looking the same and is known for always pushing the boundaries, her risqué Fausto Puglisi dress ticks all the boxes.

What more could we expect from the one and only? As always, the sensational singer/actress Jennifer Lopez successfully managed to please her admirers in this high-shine, peekaboo Charbel Zoe number.

Rising star Zendaya has gradually transformed from Disney actress to a style icon overnight. Over the coming months she has been spotted with a variety of different looks. This time, she’s dressed perfectly for her age, going for bold, clashing prints and an ab-flashing crop top. It’s no wonder she has earned her fashion credentials in such a short space of time.

So, it’s safe to say that overall, the Billboard Music Award’s style file has been no other than a success! Let’s hope it stays the same next year.
