Bridal retailer Alfred Angelo launches iconic Disney princess wedding dresses

A wedding day is considered one of the most important days of someone’s life – for the bride to be it’s an “all eyes on you” moment. Inspired by the famous ladies of Disney, the princesses’ iconic dresses have been brought to life by bridal retailer Alfred Angelo.

Alfred Angelo Bridal was founded by Alfred Angelo and his wife Edythe Piccione in 1933 and is one of the largest bridal gown manufacturers and retailers in the world, based in Delray Beach in Florida. Though the company is most recognised for its wedding dress fashion, they also design bridesmaid dresses, clothing for the mother of the bride, flower girl dresses and wedding accessories.

Angelo supports four different collections to date, the signature designs being a vintage-inspired collection called Modern Vintage by Alfred Angelo.

The newest collection to be created is based on the most popular Disney princesses. Designed by Michael Shettel, it features Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Snow White, Tiana and Elsa dresses. Each one is heavily inspired by the animated films, creating truly enchanting dresses.

Ariel’s streamlined dress shows off a fitted top going down across the waist and hips before spreading into a fishtail design around the bottom to mimic the long flows of a mermaid’s contours. Belle’s dress from Beauty and the Beast was famous for its yellow colour, but the gown for the collection stayed traditional in style. The beautiful dress has a white and silver design, copying Belle’s full skirt and shoulder sleeves.

The Jasmine dress is a simple elegant number with diamante embellishments true to the exotic nature of Jasmine’s character, realised in a soft silk white. Cinderella has a very full ball-gown style dress with a strapless top and sweetheart neckline, following the ideal dream dress that Cinderella brought to life.

Being inspired by history-making princess Tiana as not only the last 2D animated princess but as the first black princess, her dress is one of the most exotic of the collection, with an asymmetric neckline, ruched top and layered tulle bottom.

Pop culture making its way into bridal fashion is a fun development for women looking to embrace their inner princess on their special day. The wide selection of styles based on so many different characters means that no matter what your tastes are, you can still look and feel the part as your prince charming sweeps you off your feet.
