Your guide to festival essentials
If you are one of the hundreds of thousands heading off to a festival this summer you might want some practical fashion tips. We’re comparing two festivals, one at home and one abroad, to help you prep for packing.
Home: Reading
British summer is a fickle mistress so if you are camping out for Reading in a damp and muddy field you had better come prepared.
Wellingtons
The number one accessory for any British festival. Make your Wellies a statement piece as opposed to a means to an end. Up your practical fashion game by combining them with a pair of knee high socks. Simply roll them up if the weather gets chilly for instant cosy legs.
Boyfriend Shirt
Wear an oversized shirt over a crop top. Not only will you look fab, you can easily wrap it around you to keep you warm. Knot it up cow-girl style if the sun peeps out too for a boost of vitamin D.
Ponchos
Probably the least fashionable of our tips but be playful with it. Pack some coloured ponchos to bring some colour to any rainy gloom you may encounter.
Away: Sziget
Bustling Budapest is the yearly stage for Sziget Festival. With temperatures rising a little higher than your average English festival you’d better pack accordingly.
Bikini
Budapest is riddled with bath houses and they are the best way to cool off. Bring a comfortable bikini top that can double as a bra during the evening so you can go straight from the bath house to the band.
Good shoes
Chances are you will be doing a lot of travelling between the city and Sziget and from stage to stage. You’ll need some light shoes with thick soles for support. Pick a pair of Nikes or go for Birkenstocks for the perfect hippie look.
Sunglasses
Pack some shades to avoid squinting at the stage and risking a headache. Combine them with a baseball cap to keep a cool head (especially handy if you are having a bad hair day away from your hair straighteners).
